How to Get the Mushroom Lit Lantern And the Firstlight tanto schematic

The Mushroom Lit Lantern is part of the Firstlight Tanto Schematic route in Iceveil Valley. Before following the full trail, it is best to get a Shovel first because you will need it to dig up the final reward.

Step 1: Get the Shovel

The Shovel is sold by Winter Store Rep Lynx in Iceveil Settlement after completing Iceveil Guard Shiro's supply route.

   Complete Shiro's supply quest

   Go to Iceveil Guard Shiro near Iceveil Settlement and complete his supply quest to gain access to the settlement shop.

2. 02

   Find Winter Store Rep Lynx

   After gaining access to Iceveil Settlement, find Winter Store Rep Lynx inside the settlement.

3. 03

   Buy the Shovel

   Purchase the Shovel from Lynx for 1,000 Wen and keep it in your inventory. You will need it at the end of the lantern trail.

Step 2: Prepare for the Lantern Route

• Have a Shovel in your inventory before reaching the final dig.
• Bring at least 2,500 Wen.
• Do the Retsu portion of the route at night.
• Unequip your regular Lantern before speaking to Retsu and attempting the mushroom section.

Step 3: Talk to Old Trapper Retsu

   Wait until night

   Do this part of the route at night. If it is daytime, wait until night before continuing.

2. 02

   Unequip your regular Lantern

   Open your inventory and make sure your normal Lantern or other regular light source is not equipped.

3. 03

   Find Old Trapper Retsu

   Travel into Iceveil Valley and find Old Trapper Retsu near the snowy route by the torii gate.

   Choose the lantern dialogue

   Talk to Retsu and select the dialogue option about the "Lantern on your belt."

   Pay 2,500 Wen

   Continue through Retsu's dialogue and pay him 2,500 Wen to receive the clue leading toward the cave.

Step 4: Get the Mushroom Lit Lantern

After speaking with Retsu, head toward the Iceveil cave associated with Reaper Trainer Kuzan. The cave contains the glowing blue mushrooms used for the lantern sequence.

   Enter without your normal Lantern

   Before entering the cave, double-check that your regular Lantern is still unequipped.

2. 02

   Find the blue mushrooms

   Look around the cave floor for the glowing blue mushrooms scattered throughout the area.

3. 03

   Step on the mushrooms

   Walk over the glowing mushrooms and activate them. Continue through the cave while triggering the mushroom effects. Reported to be buggy and require a rejoin

   Find the Mushroom Lit Lantern

   After completing the mushroom sequence, continue deeper into the cave and collect the Mushroom Lit Lantern pickup.

5. 05

   Equip the Mushroom Lit Lantern

   Open your inventory and equip the Mushroom Lit Lantern as your active light source.

Step 5: Reveal the Blue Footprints

   Leave the cave briefly

   After collecting and equipping the Mushroom Lit Lantern, exit the cave.

2. 02

   Return with the Mushroom Lit Lantern equipped

   Go back through the cave while using the Mushroom Lit Lantern.

3. 03

   Look for the blue footprints

   The Mushroom Lit Lantern reveals a hidden trail of glowing blue footprints that is not visible with a normal Lantern.

4. 04

   Follow the footprints

   Follow the blue footprint trail through the snowy area until it leads you to the marked snow patch.

Step 6: Dig Up the Firstlight Tanto Schematic

1. 01

   Equip your Shovel

   When the blue footprint trail ends at the snow patch, equip the Shovel you bought from Lynx.

2. 02

   Dig at the marked snow

   Use the Shovel at the end of the footprint trail to uncover the hidden reward.

3. 03

   Pick up the schematic

   Collect the Firstlight Tanto Schematic from the dig site.
